A host of supercool MAMAS and their offspring gathered at HIGH ROAD HOUSE, CHISWICK on a sunny Monday to hear tips on family holidays from JULIET KINSMAN, Editor-in-Chief of boutique hotel brand Mr & Mrs Smith and their family offshoot Smith & Family . If ever there was an expert on family holidays – Juliet is it!
She has travelled with 6-year-old daughter, Kitty, to hotspots including Morocco, Thailand and Sicily, and as a result she has a load of travel tips up her sleeves. We discovered that… Norwegian Air is her favourite affordable airline; locals in Thailand love kids so much you can put your feet up while they entertain them; and that Gleneagles Hotel has the BEST kids club EVER.
Juliet introduced us to the brilliant Smith & Family hotel collection – with hotspots like The Martinhal in Portugal, The Almyra in Greece and Destination BCN apartments in Barcelona. She vouched that all hotels have been tested by reviewers with kids-in-tow which means HONEST feedback of the experience for both adults and kids; because hotels have to be stylish enough to whet our fancy but kid-friendly enough for everyone to feel relaxed.
Some of the S&F hotels have creches, babysitting services, kids clubs, and a few will even have nappies ready in the room for you in arrival (so you don’t need to overpack!). Plenty of them have spas and amazing restaurants so we can indulge ourselves too… especially as if you book for a week’s break with S&F they offer TWO FREE NIGHTS BABYSITTING (they had us at that, quite frankly).
By the end of it we were all drooling at the thought of family holidays with not a package deal in sight.
