ig Style: Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Mini for Target

Posted by Jenny

For those of you that did not know…
Besides taking frequent naps and playing outside all day, there’s a new reason why we’re vying to revert to childhood: Harajuku Mini for Target – Gwen Stefani’s vibrant, new collection of apparel and accessories for infants, tots and tweens.

Inspired by the playful style found in Japan’s trendy Harajuku district, the collection is Target’s newest design collaboration and Gwen’s most extensive children’s and baby collection to date.

Gwen, a long time designer and fan of Japanese street-style (she even has an entourage of back-up dancers she calls her “Harajuku Girls”), pairs bright colors, prints and patterns with cheeky animals and characters. Cute overload.

From edgy jackets, dresses and onesies to perky headbands, punk-y shoes and backpacks, there are more than 80 pieces in the line. Ranging from $4 to $30, the entire collection will be in stores November 13. So maybe we can’t fit into the clothes… but don’t be surprised if you see us rocking one of the petite purses or heading to the airport with the colorful carry-on in tow.

RISE OF THE ‘I DON’T KNOW WHY SHE DOES IT’ GENERATION

Posted by Jenny

Personally i think that there is way too much pressure on women to be mothers as well as working professionals. I think it is so important to enjoy the time you have with your baby rather than cramming it in to a full diary. The main person and only person which ends up suffering is the mum, as we all know motherhood really is a full time job in it self. And stress really isn’t healthy.

I get really annoyed when i hear mothers say in a melancholy manner “I am JUST a mum” you would never here a fashion photographer say “Oh I’m JUST a fashion photographer” would you? It would be more like “I am a fashion photographer” said with a very proud, dignified tone.

Motherhood is the hardest, most selfless and loving career a woman can ever have! So ladies just because you are not running a clothing label, co-coordinating fashion shows, being the ultimate sex goddess in the bedroom and looking like you just stepped out of a Selfridges window display does not mean that your career as a mother is any less prestigious as working in the wonderful world of fashion. Just remember how lucky you are to be a mum/mom/mam and remember your baby is not going to be a baby forever and then you will have all the time in the world to be fabulous!! So just enjoy the now and be proud that you are a mum! It’s as executive as its ever gonna get!

It’s been almost ten years since Allison Pearson’s book shattered the taboo about working mothers struggling to have it all.

And with Sarah Jessica Parker hitting the big screen this week in the Hollywood adaptation of I Don’t Know How She Does It, Grazia decided to find out if it’s still an accurate portrayal of modern motherhood.

After surveying 2,000 Grazia readers, we were startled by the results…

One in three of you admitted you don’t want a child. Ever. Instead, it seems having a baby has dropped off the ‘to do list’ for a whole generation of 20somethings.

Instead, nearly half of you would rather get on the property ladder than have a child, while 28% would choose a £100,000 salary over having a baby.

And the reasons for this shift in priorities?

Not only do four out of 10 say you’re not ready to give up your lifestyle, a quarter of 30-year-olds say you ‘still felt too young for a child.’

Added to this, while working mothers think they’re setting a good example to childless women by juggling it all, in reality it’s sending a whole lot of 30-something women into a spiral. Fourty-four per cent of childless working women said they felt sorry for working mums struggling to have it all. Nearly a quarter think they always look exhausted and 20% think it looks so tough it makes them think twice about having children.

Meanwhile, our survey found a new tribe – the ‘emotionally infertile’ – who fear they’ve left it too late to have a baby after either prioritising their career (a third) or simply haven’t met the right man in time (43%).

What the celeb dads think of fatherhood

Posted by Jenny

David Beckham
“Being a dad is more important than football”

Michael J. Fox on fatherhood and parkinson’s disease.
“It has taught me that there is not one moment that is frozen in time. There is no better example than to watch four kids grow up. For instance, I’m not feeling particularly steady right now, but this is not going to last for more than a couple of minutes. Same with raising kids. There are no moments you have frozen in amber. It’s moving, it’s changing, so appreciate what’s good about right now and be ready for what’s next.”

Brad Pitt on fatherhood
“Fatherhood is the best thing I ever did. It changes your perspective. You can write a book, you can make a movie, you can paint a painting, buthaving kids is really the most extraordinary thing I have taken on.”

Will Ferrel on the importance of talking.
“Talk to your children, at least once a week. If you’ve got time, do it two or three times a week, but otherwise, I find the times where I let weeks and weeks go by without talking to my children, that adds up.”

Noel Gallagher on being a dad.
“There’s a time for being a rock star, on TV, and in the studio, but you’ve got to put time aside for being daddy, and getting chocolate rubbed in your face.”

James Denton on getting it right.
“When you have kids, it takes the focus off of you. You forget about what clothes you’re wearing, or if you went to the gym. It makes you a better person if you do it right.”

Ozzy Osbourne on discipline.
“You hate to say things that will upset your kids, but then sometimes you have to because you can’t let them run around wild”

Piers Morgan on what makes a good father
“A good father needs infinite patience, boundless enthusiasm, kindness, the ability to score a goal, take a wicket, and hit a winning serve, and the strength to say ‘NO’ every now and again.”

Russell Crowe on unconditional love.
“I cannot understand how I managed to cope without getting cuddled this many times a day.”
